The first stage of my life, as the day I was born can be affiliated with Erikson's Trust vs. mistrust. This stage occurs between 0-1 1/2 years old, and the basic virtue is hope and trust.

When I was about 2-3, I learned how to use a potty. I had to develop personal control over physical skills, such as using the bathroom. Failure resulted in feeling doubt and shame. This is Early childhood stage in Erikson's stages.

In Erikson's stage of Preschool, I needed to have a sense of control over my environment. I needed to get a sense of purpose in this stage. I also learned how to phrase words and sentences better. If I fail, this results in guilt.

This can be affiliated with Erikson's Industry vs. Inferiority. In this stage I had to develop social and academic skills. I was also afraid of failure at this point in life.

In my current teen years, I have learned how to develop a sense of self and personal identity. Through this, friendships form and they can help teens grow or hold teens back. This is Erikson's Asolscence stage.

In the young adulthood stage, I believe I will struggle with intimacy vs. isolation. I will need to form loving relationships and mingle with others. If not, this will result in loneliness. This ties to Erikson's Young adulthood stage.

In this middle adulthood stage Erikson points out, adults need to create things that will fulfill and outlast their lives. Having children and creating a successful workplace will need to accomplishment and involvement in the world. Otherwise, there is a feeling of not accomplishing anything.

In this stage of life of maturity as Erikson puts it, older adults must look back on life and feel fulfillment. If this occurs, then there is a sense of wisdom as opposed to feeling bitter about growing old.
