    In 1953 Chevrolet made 300 Corvettes. The first Corvette came in white exterior with red interior. The first corvette also had 150 horsepower and a 6-cylinder engine with automatic transmission. This cool car was made for cruising not for racing.

    This is the era Corvette really became it's own car by coming out with different kinds of engine options and different models. They came out with a Corvette Grand Sport in 1963 oriented for racing. They also came out with a 1963 Corvette stingray with the split windows in the back.

    1975 was the lowest point for Corvette, the Stingray only had 165 horsepower at the time and that was the horsepower back when they made the first Corvette back in 1953. Also in 1975, Corvette would stop making the convertible top stingray.

    In the early 1980's Chevrolet designed an all new Corvette, but due to poor quality the new car was not released until 1984. They increased the engine power to 205 horsepower. They also released a convertible C4 model in 1986.
  • Return to glory: 1997-2004

    Chevrolet again redesigned a whole new Corvette. In 1997 Chevrolet produced 9752 C5 model Corvettes. The base model of the C5 Corvette had between 345-350 horsepower. As well as the option to boost the horsepower to 405 horsepower.
