    Birth
    Born September 10 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, at 3 Phillips Place. Charles Sanders Pierce was the son of Professor Benjamin Peirce, an educator of astronomy and mathematics at Harvard; his mother was Sarah Hunt Mills, Elijah Hunt Mills, a senator. Pierce was born the second of five children. He lived a privileged life and was not disciplined by his father because he feared that he would suppress his siblings and individuality.

  • College Years

    Charles Sanders Pierce entered Harvard and was able to graduate. He was earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and a master's of arts degree in 1862. He would also stay one year to study there at a graduate level. In 1863 pierce earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the Lawrence Scientific School's engineering school. Besides earning all these degrees, Pierce would form a lifelong friendship in college with Francis E. Abbot, Chauncey Wright, and William James fellow philosophers.
  • US Coast and Geodetic Survey

    Following his graduation from Harvard University Charles S. Pirece was employed and worked for the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey to study the Earth's Gravity. During his employment there, he was excepted from the American Civil War and instead was sent to Europe a few times to view a Solar eclipse or other scientific events. While employed at the U.S. Coast of Geodetic Survey, he would meet his first wife Melusina Zina Fay.

    Pierce was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. During this time in His life, Pierce worked at the U.S. Coast Survey and studied at Harvard while also giving Lectures to students and teaching his logic and reasoning. He continued to do independent research in Astronomy.

    Pirece would seem to have had his life moving in the right direction. In April of the same year, he would publish his research results in a book called Photometric Researches. in 1879, he would be appointed as a lecturer in Logic at John Hopkins University. April 24 1883, he would divorce his first wife and marry his second wife, Juliette Froissy, six days later.

    During is final years of Life Charles Sanders Pierce wife was suffering from Tuberculous in the middle of 1899. She traveled to Europe for treatment in 1891 she underwent treatment back in the united States which would allow her to outlive Pirece died 04 April 1924 in Milford P.A.He is remembered for his contribution to logic and reasoning in Science.
