On October 18, 1938, Charles Lindbergh was awarded the German Medal of Honor. He was a respected pilot and the only U.S. citizen to see their advancements. He is one of only two Americans of his time to recieve this award.

In 1956, in honor of all of his work with the air force, was appointed general. He has flown over 50 missions to earn this ranking. This was one of his last jobs.

After a year of battling with cancer, Charles Lindbergh died on August 20, 1974. He died in his home at Hawaii. Today, his grave is a tourist attraction overlooking the water.
