Charles Darwin was born on the 12th of February 1802 in Shrewsbury England.

In 1825 Charles's father sent him to the University of Edinburg. He studied medicine here until he went to another college. -
He transferred to Christ's College, Cambridge in 1828.Here he studied botany. One of his professors suggested that he take the voyage on the HMS Beagle. -
Charles Darwin was on the HMS Beagle in the British Royal Navy as a naturalist. During this voyage he collected samples of plants, animals, and fossils. He traveled to Brazil, Chile, and Argentina. -
During his return to England Charles studied his samples and notes that he took on his voyage. As he studied his samples of animals, he started to question how species evolve over time. This is what made him believe in natural selection. This means that animals of a specific environment pass down through their gene's slight changes to how the species is made. Things that help them adapted to the nature around them. -
Charles Darwin published his first book about his thoughts on evolution and natural selection in his book called On the Origin of Species -
Charles Darwin died on the 19th of April 1882 at the age of 73. He is buried in Westminster Abby in London, England
