    The Beagle Voyage

    Darwin joined the HMS Beagle as a naturalist on its voyage to South America. Originally a two-year expedition, it became a five-year adventure for the young naturalist. Copies of his word sold out instantly and by the time of his death, the theory of evolution was widely accepted. This publication grew to become the foundation of evolutionary biology.
