In our classroom books on page 347 it states on the timeline that colored photography and colored newspaper wasn't introducted till 1914. Which is the year the war began but colored photography actually was created in 1850. -

Honus Wanger was a famous baseball shortstop. Wanger is 2nd to get 3,000 hits and he completed this goal in 1914. Also Wanger's full name is Johannes Peter "Honus" Wanger. -

What set of the war was Archduke Ferdinand was assainated in Serbia. Also his wife was killed as well. Their deaths caused the beginning of the war. -
Attack on Serbia
The Austro-Hungarian government told Serbia they were going to war. Which was a month after Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were killed. This created a big event to kick off the first World War. -
America stays neutral
America claims to stay out of war. But even though the United States stayed neutral Central and Allied powers still tried to change our governments mind. While we didnt till the final year and a half. -
W.C. Handy
W.C. Handy was a jazz musician in the 1900's. Handy publishes his popular St. Louis Blues in this time. While he published St. Louis Blues around the time period of World War one he was mainly known for his spunky "Father of the Blues". -
Very young but brave soul
James Woolsey began fighting in World War One at the age of seventeen. While there was various ages of men who volunteered. As women volunteered as nurses too. -
Tready
Turkey and Serbia sign a treaty of peace. The peace treaty was sign so there would be no conflict between the two. While everyone was angry with Serbia for the killings of Archduke Ferdiand and his wife. Some places such as Turkey avoided the topic because they did not want war. -
Christmas truce
German and British soldiers declared a Christmas truce in the North France trenches and begain singing songs, passing gifts around, and coming together in the spirit of the holidays. But allied commanders put that to a stop and there was no more further gatherings by treating to kill any violator of there command. -
Gas
Aproximatley thirty harmful gases were used in World War one. But according to the link tear gas was used first by the Germans. The Germans launched tear gas in an artillery shell and launched to the Russians. -
Different locations
Mr. Woosley was ranked a sergeant. He travled to many places such as France, Germany, England, Hawaii, and aslo the U.S. He also joined the navy later on in World War two. -
America joins war
America didn't join World War one till the final year and a half of battles. America didnt join because staying neutral would have avoided conflict. Also it would have avoided any treatys made with any other government. -
Natives
Even though U.S. didnt give Native Americans citizenship until 1924. About 13,000 survived World War one. Many Natives volunteered. -
Volenteer
Woolsey volenteered to be in th Navy in 1936-1945. Which was in the fourth video on the website for my veteran. It was because he didn't want to be in the army. The recruiter didn't want to put him in the navy till he said he was a volunteer. Which changed the recruiters mind. -
Vaction of destruction
Woolsey was actually on vacation in Hawaii when the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He witnessed it. The attack on Pearl Harbor was actually a lead in to World War two. -
USO boogie
It was said to be so that James Woolsey helped Glenn Miller write music for the USO. Which is the United Services Organization. James Woolsey also plays the piano. -
Wounded
James Woolsey was wounded in World War two. He was wounded durning the battle to take Okinawa. Also Woolsey was in the Pacific Ocean theater at the time.
