    Attack on Manchuria

    Ethiopia

    Ethiopia and Italy had a disagreement over a border between Italy, Somalia, and Ethiopia. Eventually, Mussolini invaded Ethiopia. The League of Nations inflicted economic sanctions on Italy.     Invasion of Poland

    After ordering a surprise attack on Poland, Hitler claimed it was simply in defensive action. He said that the Germans would have more, "living space," after the conquest. Hitler's​ plan was to get the Germans to colonize the Polish territory and enslave the people living there. Hitler had begun the expansion with the annexation of Austria. He continued to occupy places, including Sudetenland, and Czechoslovakia. Germany signed a nonaggression pact in hopes the USSR would not help Poland.
