Causes of WWII

  • Germany's Anschluss with Austria

    Austria was annexed into the German Empire to further expand it.
    No fighting took place and there was no retaliation by Austria
  • Hitler's Annexation of Czechoslovakia

    Germany invaded the Sudetenland without Russia attacking because of the terms of the Munich Agreement.
    They invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia to start expanding their empire
  • The Munich Pact

    This allowed Germany to annex the Sudetenland and take it over.
    It was signed by Germany, France, United Kingdom, and Italy
  • Germany's Annexation of the Sudetenland

    Germany took over the Sudetenland to expand the new empire Hitler hoped to establish.
    This was the first place of many Hitler would invade
  • The Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact

    It was an agreement between Germany and the Soviet Union to remain neutral if attacked by a third party.
    They also divided Poland evemly among themselves
  • Germany's Invasion of Poland

    Germany invaded Poland and successfully took them over using there fighting strategy of blietzkrieg.
    This is the event that started WWII
  • The Phony War

    The German Army stood on the Siegried Line facing the French and British Army.
    Neither side did any major fighting and no one made any progress
  • The Miracle at Dunkirk

    The evacuation of Allied soldiers from Dunkirk, France.
    338,226 troops were safely evacuated.
  • The Fall of France

    Germany invaded France and successfully made it to Paris and took it over.
    France signed an armistice with Germany, and Germany took control of France
  • The Battle of Britain

    Germany bombed Britain over and over again to try and weaken them so they could try and invade.
    Britain defended well and the invasion was unsuccessful.
