The two points were rights of a minority and benefited all involved, He had the role of moral, political, and spiritual voice of the south. Never wanted the south to break away, Led the crusade against abolitionism and anti-slavery legislatures who sougth to limit slavery expansion. He read two anti-slavery petitions, Also warned congress that if the issue wasn't resolved deadly conflict would breakout.
