    It was offered by Henry Clay. California would be a free state and the rest of the Mexican Cession would be decided by popular soveregienty. Slave trade was ended in Washington DC, and a more effective fugitive slave law would be passed. The compermise was enacted.

    It was written by Harriet Breecher Stowe. It was an anti-slavery novel published in 1852 and sold over 2million copies in the decade. It was the book that shed light on how slaves were reallly treated. Lincoln called Harriet Breecher Stowe ẗhe little lady that started the civil war.

    It started in 1851. The Kansas-Nebraska Act used popular sovereignty to solve the issue of slavery in Kansas and Nebraska. Both sides voted and both sides declared victory. They both clashed in what is know as Bleeding Kansas.

    Fort Sumter was a Fort in Charleston Harbor, South Carolina. The South was trying to take as many union forts as possible. Lincoln told the South they would not fire unless fired upon first. the South fired and the war had begun.

    It was near the River of Bull Run. Northern forces marched from Washington DC expecting a quick victory. After getting pushed back by the North, the South charged screaming their Rebel Yell, pushing the north back, and forcing them to retreat.

    It was on the border of Corinth, MS and Shiloh TN. Ulysses Grant led the North and defeated the South in the bloodiest 2 day battle of the war. Grant earned himself the title "butcher of men" and was almost fired by congress but saved by Lincoln.

    With all the Souths defenses occupied they had left the city of New Orleans almost unguarded. Gen. David G. Farragut surprised the south and captured the city. It now gave them full access to the mouth of the Mississippi river.

    It was at Antietam Creek, MD. Due to Gen. McClellan's hesitation the North was attacked. The North was able to hold off the South in the bloodiest single day battle of the war. McClellan's hesitation cost him his job when Lincoln replaced him.

    Gen. Burnside mistakenly thought he could charge up a hill and overtake the South. The Union suffered many losses and Burnside resigned as General.

    For over nine months Gran led a siege on Vicksburg, on July 4th they finally gained victory. They gained the Mississippi River, splitting the South in half.

    Lincoln thought that taking a stand against slavery would make Britain and France less likely to aid the South. He created a document that freed all the slaves in the rebelling states. This allowed African Americans to join the Union Army and lead to the thirteenth amendment.

    The two sides met by accident in Gettysburg. The first two days the south pushed the North over by cemetery ridge, on the third day the north push the south over the side, forcing them to retreat.
  • Shermans March to the Sea

    Gen William T. Sherman led 6,000 solders on a siege from Atlanta to Savannah, GA. It was to frighten the South. They didn't destroy towns, only sole food and livestock and burned the homes of any who resisted.
  • Abe Lincolns Assasination

    Lincoln was watching a play in Forts Theater, which is in Washington DC. John Wilkes Booth who was a famous actor and southern sympathizer, went up to Lincolns private booth and shot him, fatally wounding him.
