The Missouri Compromise is when Missouri was a slave state and everything in the north was a free state. Missouri and North states had a debate but than Missouri was a slave state. -
Compromise of 1850
The Compromise of 1850 was many laws that dealt with slavery. It put an end on slavery in Washington DC but it also made it easier fir the south to recover runaway slaves this compromise made it so each new state has to decide for there self if it would be a slave state or free state. -

Uncles Tom's Cabin
This was a novel written by Harriett Beecher Stowe. The novel was written to show the evils of slavery by telling the story of an older slave who was whipped to death by his owner. Southerners believed that the book was full of lies. -
Kansas- Nebraska Act
The Kansas-Nebraska Act was an act that decided that the slavery issue would be decided by popular sovereignty. It led to violence in the senate as well. -
Pottowatomi Creek Killings
The Pottowatomi Creek Killings is where John Brown and his four sons rode into town and grabbed 5 slave men from there beds and murdered them. The was the "law" that John Brown and his four sons made. -
Dred Scott Decision
Scott had abolitionist attorneys file a law suit for him. This went to the Supreme Court but he lost. The court said that Scott was not a citizen but he was property. In addition they ruled that Congress could not ban slavery, Southerners loved this but Northerns did not. -
Lincoln-Douglas Debate
This debating was between Douglas and Lincoln with two different point of view on this. Douglas believed in deciding slavery by popular sovereignty. Lincoln believed that slavery should not be allowed to spread into the territories. -
Raid on Harper's Ferry
John Brown started the murdering all over again and led five blacks and thirteen whites into Harper's Ferry. In addition he even got arrested at this time but a lot of his men died. -
Election of 1860
This election was between Lincoln and Douglass. A lot of the southern Staes did not like Lincoln and did not agree on what he believed. When Lincoln was elected as president Southerns were very angry.
