    Historians are not sure and still discussing it but they know that somewere between 1528 and 1533 he experienced a sudden conversion, meaning that he became protestant not catholic anymore.

    In 1536 he published his first book about his new christian religion called calvinism. The book was called ‘Institute of the christian religion’. There would be 5 editions or versions. The later ones would describe how his church should be organized.

    Moved to Geneva

    In 1536 Calvin moved to Geneva which was a French owned Swiss city. This would be his base of work for his whole life. When he came here there was a battle who would own the city. There was the Bishop of Geneva and the Dukes of Savoy who were fighting. There would also an interpolitical fight about how to reform the city. There were peole who wanted ratinal change changing everything and everything and then there were people who wanted light reform, Libertinas. After the loss he left the city.

    In 1541 Calvin was invited to the city council were he imedieatly started to write up the new citys religion, calvinism with it's moral code therefore securing most privacy of the city. Many people oppresed the religion but supported it's moral code.
