    The Nye Committee was the committee that dealt with the causes of the United States involvement in World War 1. They found out that the main reason for their involvement was to “protect economic interests”. This is what led to the sense of isolationism.

    The Neutrality Act was a series of laws passed by the US congress. The goal was to separate the US from foreign conflicts. This Act was made to prevent what happened with the US in World War 1.
  • Hemispheric Defense Zone

    The Hemispheric defense zone was the action that President Roosevelt ordered to protect supplies being received by the British. German fleets of submarines were the main conflict in sending over supplies so by declaring the western Atlantic neutral is gave the US a chance to identify German fleets and get supplies over to the British.

    World War 2 began in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland under the rule of Adolf Hitler. This led to a declaration of war which eventually turned into a “global conflict”, involving the United States.

    The Destroyers for Bases agreement was an agreement made between Great Britain and the United States. The US would support the British with several destroyers to help their battle, in exchange the US gained land in the western hemisphere.

    The Lend Lease Act was a proposal made by
    Resident Roosevelt in order to help support the British in their time of need. The Act would bring arms and supplies to any Allied Power eventually throughout the state of the war.

    The Atlantic Charter was an agreement made between President Roosevelt and Winston Churchill that would guarantee safe haven between the two countries. Such as, free trade, open seas, and nonaggression.
  • Pearl Harbor Attack

    The attack on Pearl Harbor was the Japanese bombing of several U.S. naval vessels in 1941. This was the extreme measure that finally brought the US out of their neutrality and into World War 2.

    Both the New Deal Programs and World War 2 are credited with providing solutions to the nations Great Depression. The New Deal aimed to provide relief to unemployed men, as well as to provide help to the poor. This was in order to provide economic stability for the nation. The Great Depression contributed by creating more jobs for men and for women. As well as creating a greater demand for goods. Both these actions contributed greatly to the solution of the Great Depression
