  • Seatbelts

    Seatbelts
Seatbelts were invented in the early 19th century however they were not put into cars until 1949 when American car company Nash offered seatbelts in their cars. Now they are a standard in every car. Seatbelts work by supporting a person when in a collision, they hold the person back preventing them from flying forwards.
  • Airbags

    Airbags
are an occupant restraint system consisting of a flexible fabric envelope or cushion designed to inflate rapidly during an automobile collision. Its purpose is to cushion occupants during a crash and provide protection to their bodies when they strike interior objects such as the steering wheel or a window. Started in Japan in 1963, on which current airbag technology is currently based on.
  • Traction control

Traction Control systems optimise grip and stability of the car on the road during acceleration by measuring wheel rotation. It stops wheel spin by reducing engine power or temporarily applying the brakes to that wheel, allowing the car to accelerate smoothly, even on slippery surfaces.
  • ABS

Preliminary systems, such as Brake Assist, measure the speed and force of brake application to determine whether the driver is attempting an emergency stop. If such an emergency is determined, the system applies additional brake pressure to allow the driver to take full advantage of the Antilock Braking System (ABS) which prevents wheel lock up.
  • IBS Intelligent Speed assist

ISA is a safety technology that alerts drivers when they exceed the speed limit. ISA activates when a driver exceeds the posted speed limit for a section of road by a predetermined limit
