Montreal surrenders to British
Almost a year after the french troops were defeated on the plains of Abraham, The british army seized Montreal. Over 18,000 men attacked Canada by three water ways.

Fur traders band together
The fur traders of Montreal banded together in the North West Company to compete against their opposing traders of the Hudson's Bay Company.
This was important to Canadian history because the fur trade was a way that people were able to aqquire new things by giving the goods they had. When the north west traders and the Hudson Bay Company began to try to out do each other their was a growth of fur trade. -
New Brunswick
On August 16, 1784 New Brunswick seprated from Nova Scotia. It offical become its own province on 1867. This ment that New Brunswick was its own place and no longer belonged to Nova Scotia.

Quebec Divide
On this date Quebec divided into two colonies, Upper and Lower Canada, each with its own beliefs and rights. Upper Canada being known as Quebec and lower Canada as Ontario.
This was important because it shows how when people share their own beliefs they often unit and work together. When Quebec divided it also showed how often people living in one place dont share each others point of view. -
First paper mill in lower Canada
This was the first paper mill that lower Canada had at the time and used old rags and clothing to produce its papers because it was much cheaper and allowed them to produce greater amounts than what they could have if they used other materials allowing them to reach the demand for paper.
This was an important event for Canada because it allowed people to get paper and other things that were needed they could also use this paper to trade for other goods around the world bringing in profit. -
Slavery abolished in British Colonies
In 1807 people in British Colonies began to realise that everyone should be treated equaly and it didnt matter what color your skin was because everyone is human, That is when they decided to abolish slavery.
This was important because this was the first act to stop slavery ingeneral which led toward everyone being treated equal the way it is in the world today. -
War of 1812
During this time the United States declared war against Britian. This war lasted over 3 years causing many men to be killed.At the end of the war many people considered it a draw cause both side sustained alot of damage.
This war was a huge event in our history because it lead to a treaty being side which brought peace between the British and Americans. -
York changes its name
On 1834 York offically changed its name to Toronto which it is still named to this date.
This was an important time in history because the name that was chosen on that date continues to be used to this day which shows that although alot of things change over time sometimes things stay the same no matter how long its been. -
Emily Stowe
Emily Stowe was the first female doctor in Canada and began to practice in medicine.
This was an important very important in Canadian history because it showed that men and female are both able to do the same things no matter what sex they are. It also showed other women that they can become whatever they want to. -
John A. MacDonald
Dominion of Canada comes into being John A. Macdonald sworn in as prime minister. John Macdonald was Canadas first prime minster setting an example for the rest of the future prime minsters.
This was an important event in our Canadian history because John A Macdonald was trusted apon with many dutys which helped Canada at the time. -
John A. Macdonalds death
He died on the date on June 6 1891 at the age of 76 cause of death being stroke.
This was an important time because he was the first Canadian prime minister and set an example for future prime ministers.He also helped Canada become what it is today for good or for worst. -
