    In 1612 tobacco was the first crop that was grown for profit, and Virginia was the first to grow it. Tobacco was a kick start to the American economy because it made more profit than any other crop.

    On January 1st 1751 the Currency Act happened. The Currency Act was an act where all the different currencies in the colonies were regulated to create a central currency. Without a central currency our economy would not exist, or at least not with any real power.

    In December 16 1773 the Boston Tea Party happened and because of this event a rise in tea taxes occurred which ultimately lead to the Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War brought on many jobs because the army needed supplies which needed to be made by someone.

America had won the Space Race and beat the Soviet Union even though they were the first ones launch a satelite. The soviets were the first in space and we were the first ones on the moon.

    After the public release of the internet, It made communication much easier and reinvented the way people talk. It greatly helped electronic advertisement and provided jobs. The internet provides 300 billion dollars for the U.S. economy. If not for the internet, companies such as Google, Apple, and Microsoft may not have been created.

    Not only did Islamic Terrorists crash into the Twin Tower, but they sent the American economy into a downward spiral. After the attacks on the building, the United States began its "War on Terrorism". The war that was started turned the American economic downward as huge sums of money went into fighting foreign contries that were beleived to have terrorist activity. The war on terrorism which was started because of this attack can eventually be linked with the recession.
