Buck at Judge's
Buck is living in Santa Clara Valley with the Judge Miller. This was a major event because this is where Buck's metamorphosis is based off. When Buck is living here he a domestic dog that does many activities domestic dogs do. A literary element in this section is an allusion. The allusion is Santa Clara Valley, which is a real place in California. -
Manuel sells Buck
This event is when Manuel sells Buck to these men who take him to Alaska for the Gold Rush. This an allusion because dogs were taken to Alaska and used as a sled dog. This affected Buck metamorphasis because with out him being sold he never would have went through his metamorphasis. -
Buck meets Francios and Perrualt
When he meets them they are the first people to own Buck before he is taken. They are important to Buck's metamorphasis because they teach him how to be a sled dog which is the first minor step of his metamorphasis. This is also an allusion because the passage is refering to the sled dogs in the Alaskan Gold Rush. -
Curly Dies
This isb when Curly gets attacked by Spitz. This is important to Buck's metamorphasis because this is when Buck feels his wild instincts kick in to kill or attack Spitz. This was foreshadowing that Buck will kill Spitz. -
Spitz dies
This is the climax of Buck's metamorphasis because this is where Buck loes his control over his wildness and attacks Spitz. Spitz fought back during this intense fight, but Buck bit Spitz's leg and then it was down hill for Spitz. This foreshadowed that Buck will becom the lead dog and be the leader of the dogs. -
Dave Dies
Dave died which was important to Buck's metamorphasis because this was whenhe realized that he couldn't be normal dog and whimper when one of his best friends dies, but he had to move on and keep going if he wanted to survive. This is an allusion because the mushers do sometime kill the dogs if they become to sick or to weak. -
Thorton saves Buck
This is not when Buck metamorphasis rises, but this is when it goes in reverse and he starts to protect John Thornton because they have a bond now. This is what most normal dogs do. You do not see a wolf protect a human every day. This foreshadows that Buck could stay domesticated for the rest of the book. -
Buck Joins Wolfpack
Buck joins the wolf pack as he joins his brothers to roam the wilderness. This the part of his metamorphasis he cannot return from. Then Buck becomes the ghost dog. This is an allusion because the ghost is an actual real myth.
