Land Ordinance of 1785
As more people started settling in the Northwest territory congress passed the Land Ordinance of 1785 that set up a system for settling the Northwest terrotory. -
Shay's Rebellion
Angry farmers took part in Shay's Rebellion because they felf like they were being treated unfairly. In Shay's Rebellion they attacked court houses and prevented the state from seizing farms. -
Constitutional Convention
The Constitutional Convention's goal was to revise the Articles of Confederation. All the states sent reprsentatives for this except Rhode Island. -
The Three Fifths Compromise
the Southern states wanted slaves to be part of the population count even though they couldn't vote but the North disagreed. So they agreed for 3\5 of the slaves in each state be counted for. -
Northwest Ordinance
Following the Land Ordinance of 1785 was the Northwest Ordinance. It set up a government for the settlers in the Northwest reigion. -

The Great Compromise was when Virginia wanted a legislature with 2 houses but New Jersey wanted 1. Each side gave up some desires to unite. -

Americans voted in the first election under the Constitution in January 1789. As expected george Washington was elected President while John Adams was chosen as Vice President. -
Bill of Rights
James Madison Proposed the Bill of Rights whole George Mason influnced it. By December 1791 3\4 of the states had ratified 10 of the12 ammendments. -
12 Amendments
The firest congressmade a set of 12 amendments, written by James Madison. After ratifing the states made 10 of these 12 the Bill of Rights.
