Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell was an English war hero; idolized for his efforts in the battle of Mafeking in the South African War. While out on the frontier he sees that many many have difficulty with simple tasks that men in the wild should already know.

After noticing that many young men lack basic survival skills, Baden-Powell writes "Scouting for Boys". A field guide on how to survive on the frontier.

When Baden-Powell returned from war he saw that the book had cauht on with young boys. He decided to take close to 20 young men out into the woods to teach them firsthand the methods he introduced in his book.

Sir Francis Vane becomes the first London Commissioner of the BBS (Baden-Powell Boy Scouts). Now that they had a Powerful Military General at the helm of the organization, they gained recognition throughout the competition.
