    European Help the Revolution
    France sent badly needed funds, supplies, and troops to America.Spain helped fight the British in the South. By entering the war on America's side, France and Spain forced the British to fight on a number of enemies on land and sea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    In Boston, the Sons of Liberty organized what came to be known as the Boston Tea Party. A group of men disguised as Native Americans boarded three tea ships docked in Boston Harbor and destroyed 300 chests of tea. This important because the colonists were getting more and more angry with the taxes that the king put them on.The taxes were another reason why they wanted to be independent from England.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Lexington and Concord were the first battles of the Revolutionary War. Nearly 4,000 Minutemen arrived in the area. They lined the road from Concord to Lexington and peppered the retreating redcoats with musket fire. This is important because it showed how the minutemen who were not trained soldiers were willing to fight against the British - the strongest army in the world.
