    Russia controlled most of the area of Alaska from 1700's until 1867. On March 30, 1867 the united states purchased Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million. During WWII Japanese occupied two Alaskan Islands, Attu and Kiska for around 15 months.

    Ferdinands wife was also shot to death by Bosnian Serb. They were both on a visit to the capital of Sarajevo. Ferdinand was a target since he was next in line for the throne and very wealthy. Another reason is because the people in Balkans were angered by Austrias annexation of Bosnia a few years earlier
