    John Struggles with physical health
    Recently John hasn't been sleeping enough because of sports, school, and procastinating on his homework. John overcomes this challenge by doing his homework right after he gets home from his afterschool games and practices. After he does homework, he goes to sleep right away for his 9 hours of sleep daily.
  • John's new health goal

    John's new health goal
    John decides to make new goals because of the new year. The most important thing for John to do is improve his overall health. He is going to not only improve in physical health, but also, socially and mentally. He will meet new people and socialize with them. He will also try to be more confident in himself, by telling himself that he can ace his tests and quizs.
  • A stressful event

    A stressful event
    John is going through a tough time in his life. School work is overloading and exams are coming up in a week. John stays up late every night to do his homework and study for his exams. He is rarely getting any sleep, he gets about 5 hours of sleep each night for a week. John limits his time hanging out with friends and does his homework in class when there is extra time.
  • Jimmy starts a bad habit

    Jimmy starts a bad habit
    Jimmy, John's bestfriend, is drinking on the weekends and John is concerned about the negative effects. John is worried that Jimmy is going to get addicted to alcohol because of the drug ethanol. Jimmy also plays sports and alcohol use can decrease his performance in the activities he does. Alcohol can also mess up the thought process, making then disorganized, and memory and concentration are dulled. Alcohol can also cause Jimmy's heart rhythm to be irregular.
  • Loss

    John's grandmother had just passed away. He is in the stage of denial right now. He has difficulty to believe the fact that his grandmother had died. Soon after, he was in the stage of emotional release. He accepts the fact that his grandmother is gone and he starts to cry.
  • Healthy is the way to go!

    Healthy is the way to go!
    John learns about his family's history of health diseases and decides to eat healthier. He is now at a lower risk of Coronary Artery Disease, Irregular Heart Rhythm, Heart Valve Disease. and Dilated Cardiomyopathy.
  • Jimmy drinking and driving

    Jimmy drinking and driving
    John takes away Jimmy's keys after a long night of partying. Jimmy was drinking like there was no tomorrow. John tells Jimmy that his judgement is altered and coordination is impaired. Movement, speech, and vision is affected by drinking. Driving is dangerous.
  • Smoking starts again

    Smoking starts again
    John's dad couldn't help but start smoking tobacco again. John is worried about his dad getting lung cancer, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or cancer of the kidney.
  • Sick

    Sick
    John is at home sick this week with the flu. He can rest, get lots of sleep, drink a lot of water, and take over the counter medicines. John can prevent the flu next year by washing his hands often, get vaccinated, and avoid touching his eyes and nose.
  • Puberty

    John is now going through puberty. The cerebrum, though, continues to develop during adolescence, increasing memory and cognition. He will also learn to think logically.
  • Abstinence

    John's parents sits him down and lectures him about being abstinent. They tell him to set personal limites on physical affection, practice refusal skills, and avoid dating someone who is sexually active.
