    The man behind the fix was first basemen Chick Gandil. He had a friend that was a proffesional gambler and convinced him to fix the World series.

    The main reason of the fix was because the player were being paid vary poorly and the men were payed low becasue there owner Charles Cominsky would not pay the players fairly. The men blew the series because they all had families and need the money to pay for their cost of living.

    The grand jury handed down its decision on October 22, 1920, and eight players and five gamblers were implicated. And the eight players were banned from major league baseball. Shoeless Joe Jackson ,pitchers Eddie Cicotte and Claude "Lefty" Williams; infielders Buck Weaver, Arnold "Chick" Gandil, Fred McMullin, and Charles "Swede" Risberg; and outfielder Oscar "Happy" Felsch. and were later called the Black Sox for fixing the 1919 world series.
