EVENT:In 1492, Columbus went on his first voyage to explore New land and bring back riches to spain
FACT CHECK:Columbus did find land on October 12 1492 so the dates are accurate in the movie
Connection: I realized that without this voyage the world wouldn't be as it is right now. We wouldn't have as many global connections.
RATING: I give the movie a 3 out of 5 because it made me wanna go to sleep. Also some parts were too graphic for me like the hand chopping. -
Lincoln
EVENT: In 1665, Lincoln was assassinated at Ford theatre. He was Shot in the head by a man named John Wilkes Booth.
FACT CHECK; This date was correct Lincoln was Shot in the head by this man.
CONNECTION: Lincoln was the First president to be assassinated but there were many others after him like William Mckinley and John F kennedy.
RATING: ⭐ ⭐ I Give this move a 2 out of 5 stars because I don't like historical movies, they are really hard for me to get in to. -
12 Years a Slave
EVENT: In 1841, Solomon Northup, a free man from saratoga, was drugged, kidnapped and sold into slavery.
FACT CHECK: This date was accurate in the movie. A man Named Solomon Northup who got sold in this year.
CONNECTION: I think that it horrific how African Americans were denied of their freedom right and there was nothing to be done about it.
RATING: I give the movie a 4/5. I didn't see the whole movie but the part I saw was pretty good. -
Rescue Dawn: U.S.S Ranger, Gulf of Tonkin
EVENT:Dieter Dengler, an American Skyrider got his aircraft shot down and was captured by Vietnamese army men and tortured FACT CHECK: In the movie this event happened in the year of 1965 but on several sites it says it happen 1966 meaning this movie date is not accurate.
CONNECTION: Its very sad that this man had to go through what took place. He showed great heroism.
RATING:⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐This movie receives a 5 out of 5. I really enjoy movies that make me want to see how it ends. -
Selma
EVENT: In 1965, Martin Luther King lead thousand in a peaceful protest march against CIvil Rights issues in the African American Community.
FACT CHECK: This movie is historically accurate. This March from Selma to Montgomery with MLK did happen.
CONNECTION: All MLK did helped African Americans but there are still issues. There are protest right now because of the racist events that have taken place.
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I give this movie a 5 out of 5 stars. I like watching movies about my history. -
Mandela: Long walk to Freedom
EVENT: On April 27th, 1994 Nelson Mandela got elected President of South Africa
FACT CHECK: Mandela did get elected of this date so the movie was factual accurate.
CONNECTION: This just reminds me of when Barack Obama became President of the United states. It was an historical event just like this.
RATING:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I give this movie a 5 out of 5 Stars. It gave me chills throughout the movie and goes perfectly with the events happening rn. -
Forest Gump
EVENT: In 1994 a movie came out about a man with a mental illness named Forrest Gump who tells the story of his life and how he managed to do better in life than average man.
FACT CHECK: This movie is fictional but they compare Forrest to a man named Sammy L. Davis.
CONNECTION: I think it is important to be kind to those with disabilities.
RATING:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This the plot of this movie really touched my heart. Plus, I love Tom Hanks movies. -
