These were great years and also had great English teachers. I enjoyed speaking English to friends like it was a game, and also loved to talk alone as if I was making a conversation with others in English. I enjoyed speaking English at night with a girlfriend who lived across the street. I also loved to listen to American music and Cable TV arrived at home, so I saw lots of programs in English.

Close Up Program - Trip to Washington D.C.
This trip to Virgina was one of my best experiences as a young teenager. I really got to prove and use my skills with my second language. Helping friends who did'nt speak English was rewarding, as well as encoraging them to learn English, because it will help them in their future. I did'nt have to use the translator, Dave, instead, I helped him with my friends.

Being part of the Commerce Course I was the only student from that program who took advanced English during our senior year. I enrolled in this class, because I knew I could do well, it was a challenge for me. Our teacher Miss Soto, was excellent. I dearly enjoyed reading the novel: Jane Eyre.

Knowing English in this stage of life helped me, because all books in college were in English.

At this time I worked and grew in the Agency, from secretary to appraiser for property tax purposes. During my stay there, 9 years, I was asked to help those taxpayers who did not speak Spanish, and I did it with lots love, even though it was not my job. They came in year after year looking for me to help them. This inspired me to study and become an English Teacher.

New beginnings in my carreer: I became and English Teacher!
Thank God, I finally got to be an English Teacher. I had to quit my job at the CRIM office after nine years there, because my request for a non pay leave license was denied. I never thought it twice, and left to work as an Engish Teacher in Aguada, were I live and still teach. This is my eight year teaching, and even though it is not an easy task, it is rewarding deep inside.

    This is me today!
Today I'm proud that I can teach children English as a second language at Maria Luisa Jiménez Bilingual School in Aguada. It is really rewarding to transmit my knowledge to others, my son, my husban, friends, colleagues, and specially my students. I let them know that it is not difficult to learn a second language if you are motivated, like I did.
