Samuel crowned Saul king over all Israel. Saul wasn't thrilled with this idea, so he didn't go into ruling right away. The people of Israel wanted a king and God was getting tired of them complaining. -

The philistines were coming to attack and the Israelites got word that there was a giant named Goliath on there side. When the men of isreal went out to fight they ran back in fear because of the giant. Goliath called for a brave man to come and fight him. once David realized that Saul hated him Jonathan Saul's son/David's best friend told him to flee. David does and goes to the prophet Samuel. -
