    Afteran arguement with his brither and father Benjamin decides to leave Boston and go to New York. He doesn't stay in New York long before he leaves there before he decides t go to Philadelphia.

    Benjamin takes a boat from New York to Philadelphia, in which he has to help row the boat himself. After about six days in the boat some voyagers become worried that they have passed Philadelphia, so they stop for the night in a creek. When they wake up in the morning they are able to see Philadelphia. When he arrives in Philadelphia he has nothing but the clothes on his back and a very small amount of money.

He is surprised by how much food he can get for a very small amount of money, so he buys three loaves of bread. Then he walks down the street by his future wfe and then back to the docks, where he gives two of the loaves to a mother and her child.
