    Birth
    Benito Juarez was born on March 21 1806. His parents were two meso-american Indians, who sadly died when he was only three. Since he no longer had parents, he was raised by his uncle.
  • Education

    In 1829, Benito went to the Oaxaca Institute of Arts and Sciences to study law and science. In 1831 he earned his degree and a seat in the municipal council. In 1841, he became a judge.
  • Marriage

    In 1843 he got married to Margarita Maza. When the wed, Margarita was only 17. To add to the awkwardness, they were also technically siblings, but only because of adoption
  • Exiled

    Exiled
    n 1853 he was exiled because of political reasons. From December of that year until June 1855 he lived in New Orleans, until someone on his side became in charge and let him back into Mexico.
  • Lerdo Law

    Lerdo Law
    The government published the “Lerdo Law” with Juarez's help. Although it forced the church to sell it’s property, it was meant for equality reasons. This also made some Aristocrats sell their property, letting other Mexicans buy that land.

    In 1857 he not only became part of the supreme court, but he also became vice president. When the people drove out the current president in 1858, Benito became president. Because of problems in mexico city, he had to go to Veracruz

    In 1861 Mexico’s treasury was very empty.To deal with it,, he stopped paying debt to other countries, which caused some conflicts with England, Spain and France.

    Benito was forced to leave the capital again around 1863. He kept the government alive by doing a bunch of retreats to El Paso del Norte. Finally, in 1867, napoleon from and Maximillion, the main people in the conflict, left one way or another,
  • Big Mistake

    He was re-elected in August and got permission to add five amendments to the constitution. However, mexicans did not like the amendments, and they apparently gave him more power. This was considered his biggest mistakes.
  • Death

    Benito sadly died in 1872 because of a heart attack. He was said to have set the stage for Mexico’s modernization. 38 years later, mexico built a monument to him.
