  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    It was the first battle of the Civil War. It began 4/12/1861. The fort was a union fort in the middle of the south. Because of the placement, the union surrendered after 34 hours.
    The secession of the south caused this battle. The secession was a boiling point. The effect of the battle is declared war.

    The war began April 1861.The treaty was in March 1865, but the last battle was in May 1865.
  • The Battle of Shiloh

    Confederate soldiers jumped out of the woods and attacked unions. They drove them away from their camps and threatended to take over the rest of them.
    This led to the Union people putting on their A game. 23,000 people died.
  • The Battle of Gettysburg

    They all came to the town of Gettysburg.The South had taken over many cities, but they still could not take over North's army. So Lee ( confederate guy) kept trying to fight the North as much as possible. They fought almost everywhere there.
    After the second attempt at invasion of Lee's army, 51,000 people were killed, lost, or captured. It caused a lot of loss for the confederacy.
    It lasted for about 2 days.
  • The Wilderness Battle

    They fought a lot. It was a major loss for the south, but the north lost twice as many troops. But then they all started heading for Spotsylvania.
    It was caused by people having a war. It led to the battle of Spotsylvania.
  • Battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse

    The cause of this war was The wilderness battle. It lasted for two weeks. Apparently it was bloody. 18,000 Union lives were lost. 11,000 Confederacy lives were lost.The effect was that the north just continued to the capital of the Confederacy. (Richmond)
  • The Battle of Palmito Ranch

    This was the last battle of the Civil War. It was in Texas. It ended with the Confederate army surrendering.
    The cause was Branson telling his army where a confederate camp was. The effect was it lead to a treaty saying that no one from the Confederacy or the Union should fight anymore.
