    TheFrist Battle of Bull Run, also know as First Manasass, was fought on July 21, 1861 in Fairfax County and Prince William County, Virginia. The Union leader was Irvin McDowell; the Confederate leaders were Joseph E. Johnston and P. G. T. Beauregard. The Confederates won this battle, and this was the first battle of the American Civil War.

  • Battle of Shiloh

    The Battle of Shiloh, also known as the Battle of Pittsberg Landing, fought between April 6-7,1862. This battle was fought in Hardin County, TN. The leaders of the Union side were Ulysses S. Grant and Don Carlos Buell; the Confederate leaders were Albert Sidney Johnston and P. G. T. Beauregard. The Union won the battle despite the Confederate plan of a suprise attack. They were winning the first day, but the Union troops came back and win the battle.

Lee was the Confederates leader. The Conderates won this battle, this battle was alike the First Battle of Bull Run except it was on a larger scale.

    The Battle of Antietam was fought on September 17,1862 near Sharpsburg, Maryland. The Union leader was George B. McClellan; Robert E. Lee was the Confederate army leader. There is no clear winner to this battle, the Union army won stragetic wise but that is about it.

    The Siege of Vicksburg was fought from May 18 – July 4, 1863 in Warren County, Mississippi. The Union leaders was Ulysses S. Grant; the Confederate leader was John C. Pemberton. This battle is a Confederate victory and when combined with the Battle of Gettysburg is considered the turning point of the war.

This battle was a Union victory, it is the battle with the most casualties and is often called the turning point in the war.

Meade; the Confederate leader was Robert E. Lee. This battle doesn't have a clear winner with both sides having a large number of casulaties and bloodshed.

    The Battle of Cold Harbor was fought for over 2 weeks during May 31 – June 12, 1864 and it was fought throughout Virginia. Ulysses S. Grant and George G. Meade were the leaders of the Union army; and the leader of the Confederate army was Robert E. Lee. The Confederates won this battle, the Union tried to fight back against the hopeless frontal assault. This battle is remembered as the bloddiest battle.
