    The Declaration of Independence (July 4, 1776)
    On July 4th 1776, the Declaration of Indendence was signed by most members of the Congress. Some members, however signed earlier before the 4th, or later added their signatures. Eventually, fifty six official signatures made their way on the document. The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson to declare America's independence and freedom against Britan. Because of the Declaration of Independence, America became free from the British and led to where we are now; successful.
  • The initial creation / signing of the U.S. Constitution

    The initial creation / signing of the U.S. Constitution
    The creation and process of signing the Constitution was also known as the Constitutional Convention. The convention took place in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania. All of the conolonists gathered here for the initial creation of the Constitution in order to form a new government. It took from the end of May to mid September for the constitution to be written, approved, and signed in order for it to become official. On September 17, 1787, the initial creation was concluded.

    The Cotton Gin Was Invented
    The intial invention and first patent on the Cotton Gin was made by Eli Whitney in 1794. At the time, slavery was at an all time high. This even tis influential on history because after it was invented, cotton could be picked more effeciently. With cotton becoming easier to handle, demand for slaves sky rocketed. The more slaves, the more cotten could be produced with the cotton gin. The more cotton produced, more money could be made.

    James Marshall FInds Gold
    In mid January incredible news spread all throughout the world. James Marshall had discovered a fair amount of gold in California. Months later, hundreds of thousands of people set out to California in hopes of striking gold and riches. This event is influential and important because it led to one of the greatest migrations in American history: the California Gold Rush.

    The Election of 1860 occured Tuesday, November 6, 1860. The canidates were Abraham Lincoln and John C. Breckingridge. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican from Springfield, Illinios. Breckingridge was a southern Democrat from Kentucky. The voting ended in favor of Lincoln. Lincoln recieved majority of votes from Northern states in favor of emancipating slavory.
  • Lincoln's Assasination

    Lincoln's Assasination
    On April 15, 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. He was shot at Ford's Theatre in the presedential box by John Wilkes Booth. Lincoln was attending a play at the Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC that night. After being shot, Booth escaped and Lincoln was taken to a house across the theater to be looked at by medics. Shortly after, Lincoln died from the bullet wound.
  • Transcontinental Railroad Completion

    On May 10, 1869, the Transcontinental Railroad was completed. This was the first transcontintal railroad in the United States. This railroad connected America from the Missouri River to the Rocky Mountains. Items could now be transported more efficiently and travel was newly invented. Cities began to grow around railroad stops and urbanized the country side. The Transcontinental Railroad was a major breakthrough in the growing and urbanization of America.

    Chinese Exclusion Act
    The Chinese Exclusion act was a law that banned Chinese immigrants from entering the U.S. for ten years. This federal law was signed on May 6, 1882 by President Chester A. Arthur. This law ended up being passed due to economic fears present in American workers at the time. Citizens were afraid all Chinese laborers were going to take their jobs.

    In the fall of 1929, stock markets and sales with new inventions were at a peak. Soon after sales were at a high, the market crashed and America took a hard hit. The immesne crash to industries led to what we call the Stock Market Crash of 1929, also recognized as Black Tuesday. This eventually led to banks, businesses, and manufacturers failing, thus leading to The Great Depression of America.

    Vietnam War

    The Vietnam War was the longest war in U.S. American history. This war, also known as The Second Indochina War, lasted a brutal twenty years. Over two million people died during the timespan of the war. Sixty-thousand Americans died along with roughly two million Vietnamese deaths. Over the course of the war, America lost many troops and caused billions in army supplies along with heated conflicts and mixed opinions about the war.
  • Apollo 11 Landing On The Moon

    Apollo 11 Landing On The Moon
    Apollo 11 was the first ever spacecraft to take humans not only to the moon, but safely land them there. On board Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin; American astronauts. July 21, a few hours later, the first man ever to walk the moon became a reality. Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, which gave American immense pride for being the first to set foot on the moon.
  • Eruption of Mt. St. Helens

    Eruption of Mt. St. Helens
    Mt. St. Helens, a volcano in Washington, caused destruction due to the massive eruption on May 18, 1980. The first sign of activity occured on the 16th of May, leaving only two days of warning. This devastating blow led to not only lava and ash everywhere, but ash clouds making their way tp seven other states! Hundreds of homes, and property was destroyed, and put the economy in a tough place for construction costs. At the time, it was considered one of the worst eruptions of U.S. history.
  • My Birthday

    My Birthday
    I was born in Reading, Pennsylvania at a small birthing home. Most of my family lives in PA as of now and we are all fairly close to each other. Today as an 8th grader, my interests include racing, running, biking, eating of course, and spending time with friends.
