  • Benz Patent Motor Car

    Benz Patent Motor Car
    On the 29th of January 1886 a man called Carl Benz created the first automobile, the Benz Patent Motor Car. This car had a one cylinder four stroke engine which produced a mind boggling 0.9 horse power at 400 rpm with a brain melting top speed of 10 mph. the engine was internal combustion and could hold up to 1.5 liters of gasoline and weighed around 100 kilograms. The frame was created from welded steel tubing, this was because the car was rear wheel drive.

    Ford Model T
    The ford model T might be the most important car ever created, this is because for as long as cars were on the road they were seen as something only the wealthy and well off could afford. But Henry ford saw a market that had never been touched before, the mass market. So the ford model T was invented and had over 16 million models sold making it the most sold car before the volts wagon beetle. The model T had a four cylinder engine producing 20 horsepower and had a top speed of 45 mph.

    The 1950's

    The 1950's saw the rise of post war working class citizens buying cars due to the manufactures seeing the possible profit. This had been Henry ford's dream for so long and now it was becoming a reality. In the 1950's a new kind of engine saw a rise in popularity, the V8. Since you can't make a straight 8 cylinder engine because it would be too long, so there was a compromise. An engine created in 1902 was about to be revised and perfected by ford. the v8 is named after the cylinder bank shape.

    The 1960's is the decade of famous car names, the Porsche 911, Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, VW bus and many many more iconic cars. The 1960's saw the birth of all new performance heights with cars hitting 300-500 horsepower. This was the decade of the American cars as this was the birth of Muscle car culture. This decade was also the birth of the Supercar with the Lamborghini Miura.

    The 1970's was the decade of the supercar and formula 1. One of the most iconic supercars to come out of this era was the Lamborghini countach. This was also a good decade for Japanese cars with the massive rise in popularity of manufactures like Datsun & Toyota. The 1970's was a lot alike the 1960's for car culture. With the 1970's comes a large boom in popularity with endurance racing and formula 1 as these where the most influential years for these kinds of Motorsport.

    The 1980's saw the boom of Japanese car culture in it's finest with cars like the skyline's and the supra's origins starting roughly around this point. This decade saw the introduction of all new technology in cars like televisions, phones, airbags and speakers. This Decade saw the end of the original muscle car body shape with the 1990's Muscle cars looking more like Japanese tuner cars. This also saw the birth of economy cars due to the oil crisis.

    The 1990's was the decade of Japanese cars with the creation of the Mk 4 supra the skyline r32 and the Mitsubishi lancer evo just to name a few of the bazillion Japanese cars to come out of that time. Japanese tuner culture really sprouted into action with highly tune able 4-6 cylinder engines coming out of Japanese manufacture's factories.

    The 2000's saw innovation with the very first mass produced tesla electric cars coming to fruition with the birth of modern muscle. all new technology came into cars like Bluetooth speakers and an all new style of futuristic looking cars. the boom of carbon fiber innovation and electric cars exploded during the 2010's with cars becoming more Eco-friendly yet also more powerful. the first 1000 horse power street legal cars came and are here now.
