Augutso Pinochet's Birth
Augusto Pinochet was born on November 25, 1915. His birth name was Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte. Augusto was born in Valparaíso, Chile. -
Pinochet's Graduation
Pinochet graduated from the military academy in santiago 1936. He was later planned to be the new army commander in chief by president Allende. This was just 18 days before he planned to lead the coup that killed musician Victor Jara. -

1974-1990, was when Augusto was head of the military government. During this time he tortured over 10,000 opponents of his government. -
Pinochet's Action
When Pinochet started in the head of the oldest branch, his first action was to send the government to ban all of left-leaning political parties. -

Replacement
1986 Pinochet survived an assassin attempt. After that he was asked to be in the office for another eight years, he accepted. Another eight year term was asked but, 56% of the population declined, leaving Pinochet to leave and be replaced by Patricio Aylwin in March 1990. -
House Arrest
Pinochet remained the military Commander in chief, until 1998, keeping him from getting prosecuted. After his service, the Spanish Government planned to place home under house arrest when he goes to leave for London. The Spanish Government also wished to take Pinochet to Spain for him to serve charges for torturing thousands. -
Released
Pinochet was then released on medical grounds in 2000. He later returned to Chile that year. -
Going On Trial
Pinochet was going to go on trial for humans rights abuse, but got overturned in 2002. -
Trial
Pinochet was then put to go on trial again, and finally was. He was found guilty for abusing human rights, and placed under house arrest. -
Death
Augusto passed December 10th 2006. He passed because of a heart attack while in house arrest.This was just before he could finish his stand in trial. He died in Santiago Chile, age 91.
