    Auguste Comte was born January 19th, 1798 in Montpellier, France. He is the founder of both sociology and the theory of positivism. Comte's parents were Roman catholic's, but Comte rejected the ideas of Catholicism at an early age.

    In 1845, Auguste Comte fell in love with a married woman named Clotilde de Vaux. She died of tuberculosis and Comte used this as inspiration for his writings about the role of women in a positivist society.

    Auguste Comte believed in science and what would could actually see. This thought process paved the way for the religion of atheism where there is no belief in a supernatural entity. We base our beliefs and values off of what we physically have and our physical experiences.
