On February 2nd 2001 NASA launched a spacecraft that landed on an asteroid called Eros. This was a huge jumping point for NASA for landing on the first asteroid. -

Rover lands on Mars in August 2012. Rover was built by NASA. Rover landed on Aeolis Palus which is a part of Mars.
