    Every summer, for about 7 years, we would have exchange students live with us. Reading was always an important time while they were with us. They taught us Japanese and we helped them with their English.

    I wanted nothing more than to share the love of reading with my first born. Books were the way we ended each night, with him in my lap and me reading him a bedtime story.

    While vacationing with his grandparents, I made sure that they kept up with Josh's reading every night. He also wrote me letters and journaled what he was reading.

    One of my fondest memories from years ago was sitting on the back deck of our houseboat at Lake Powell reading. I would sit for HOURS engrossed in a good novel while the rest of the family was off on the jet skis or exploring.

    Just like my previous children, my youngest daughter was introduced to books at a young age as well. I always wanted my children to see the importance of a good book in your hand.

    Appropriately titled, my "book" business's name was AlwaysInABind.com This became me in so many ways. Not only was I an avid reader, but now I could out the words behind the pictures. MY PICTURES, in my own "storybooks".

    As I continued with my book company, my girls too enjoyed writing their own stories. I am confident in saying that will instilling the love of reading and creating your own books, my girls enjoy reading any chance they get.

    After reading her story, it was an honor to meet Elizabeth Smart in person. What courage she went through in putting her events into a book. A must read for everyone.
  • MY WHY!

    MY WHY!
    This has nothing to do with the assignment, but these three faces with me are why I continue to learn and grow each day. My children are my everything. I am blessed to have shared my love of books over the years and hope that they all continue on their own path of discovery and enlightenment.
