  • TROUBLE TRADING WITH BRITAIN

    United States had faced trading problems with Britain after they signed the Treaty of Paris. Closed many of its ports to American ships.

    Spain closes off their share of the Mississippi river which forces troubles on the U.S
  • ANNAPOLIS CONVENTION

    The State of Virginia passed a resolution that called for 13 different delgates from each colony to meet in Annapolis to discuss the nation' problems. Their goal was the amend the Articles of Confederation so the national government would be more effective. Only delgates from five states showed up.
  • SHAY'S REBELLION

    An uprising that took place in Massachusetts. The leader of this rebellion was Daniel Shay. He was mad because of the taxes the state government was putting on the people when they just won a war because of having to pay too many taxes. The rebellion helped the people see that the Articles of Confederation were too weak and something had to be done to fix them.
  • CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION

    On this date, twelve delgates from each state except Rhode Island gathered in Philadelphia. In Independence Hall May 25, they all decided that the states would use the Connecticut Compromise that called for a bicameral legislature or Congress . One of the two houses of Congress would be elected according to the populations. The other house would give equal voice to each state. Most delegates agreed with this idea.
