  • Period: Jan 1, 1300 to

    Renaissance

Art during the Renaissance related to humanism. Renaissance art was a huge break from Medieval art’s lack of realism. Artists tried to portray humanistic forms and natures while also painting in order to portray a 3-D effect. Lines and edges in art were stressed, and some forms of art had many prominent figures of ancient times, the bible, or classical mythology.
  • Period: Jan 1, 1300 to

    Reflection of Society

The art of the Renaissance greatly reflected the society of the day. Before the Renaissance, art was focused primarily on religious forms. During the Renaissance, society changed. People started to care more about secular life on earth, and began to value humans and their intellect. This is reflected in art praising the great minds of the time as well as the ancient history and mythology shown.
