Arlington Road

  • Opening Scene

    Opening Scene
The opening scene starts of as a low medium shot showing the man covered in blood. It then skips to a head shot, giving the audiencec a clear image of his emotions which we have interpreted as fear, and worry and anger. The tone in his voice also represents a lot of these emotions. The shot then flicks into the openeing titiels, leaving the audience wanting to know more.
  • Fences

    Fences
The image is of fences, these could represent being captured or hiding something. The redness of the clip could also reresent bood anger and warningg. This clip is only on for a second or two never the less it i repeated throught in different colours.
  • Setting image

    Setting image
This is an establishing shot of the setting, The colours have been put into negeative- giving the feel of this normal surban street a very creeepy element. By having the single streeet light on its own it could represent a lonelness that is felt when in the road. Throughout the openeing titiles the images of these house are reccuring, through diffrent angles. This could represent significance in the film.
  • Extreme close up of child

    Extreme close up of child
The image here shows the audience an extreme close up of a child, however who the child is is unknow. We only see part of the childs face, before it flickers off the screen, leaveing the audience questioning why it was ever there.

    Arlington Road - Title timeline

  • The title

    The title
This image shows the name of the film. By having the sign on its own with a grey background it is again enhancing the empty and lonely feel.
  • Padlock

    Padlock
This is an extreme close up image of a padlock, I think that the image is a representation of hiding of locking something away. By having it in the colour tone sepia it could mean that thing being hidden has been therer a long time.
  • Clocks

    Clocks
The image here is completly out of fit with the rest of the images shown, The lighting is brighter and the feel is less creepy. However when closely looked at the clocks design it has infact got one on the left instead of the right. I think that by having he numbers like this it represents the amount of time the people in the film have left and it is a countdown of their life.
  • Figure of a person

    Figure of a person
In this image we are shown the behind of a person, using a point of view shot. This could be suggesting a possible stalking of the person we are seeing. The person is situated in a dark background with contrasting white clothes., grabbing the audience in. This is the first clear image of a human that we see, suggesting to the audience that it is significant.
  • Time Passing

    Time Passing
In this we see the over lap of a faded image of two houses. When looking closely I can see different people going past on their bikes. This could be the representataion of time passing. I think that the image is another point of view shot as it shows the main character stalking the house and the passers by.
  • Little girls running

    Little girls running
In this image we see a group of three girls running. The colour is distoreted to black and white and the feel of the picture is very lonely, dark and creepy. When reading into the picture slightly more it could be suggesting to us that the little girls are running away from something or someone for a dark and unknown reason.
  • Empty swings

    Empty swings
The image here follows on direcetly from the image of the litttle girls running. Having the swings empty could be a suggestion to the audience that the girls are no longer around to use them anymore. Having the negative colours used it again creates a very lonely, 'negative' feel.
  • Image in red

    Image in red
In this image we can make out the outline image of a woman and a child. The colour around her is red, suggesting warning, danger and blood, leaving the audience questioning what is going to happen to her.
  • Window

    Window
In this image the camera is facing upwards towards a window. This is again enhancing the feel of the stalking throughout the scene. The lighting used in this is dark, giving a very creepy feel.
  • Baby

    Baby
In this image i can see a baby behind a bared child gate. The baby is holding onto the bars and the cameras shows an close up of the baby face. The colours in the image are all distored and the usage of red connotes to me warning, death and danger. I think that having the baby holding onto the bars it shows a feel of desperation and wanting to get out. I think that bars are also put in to show warning.
  • Barking Dog

    Barking Dog
The image shown here is an image of, what looks like an alsation, dog barking. With the sounds of the barking dog above the music it makes me as an audience member feel very intimated by the level of sounds used. The dog barking is a very ferousious and angry sound and is very threatenng towards the audience.
  • Roses

    Roses
In this image the green and the red of the plant are truely enhanced because of the black background they are placed on. From what I can see the flowers used are roses, which are a flower of love, lust and happiness. However their enhanced red coloured petals show me and image of warning, and danger. This is the one of last image before the flash back into the opening hospital scene.
  • Hosptial again

    Hosptial again
In this image we see again the man from the first scene. He is in a dark corridor that is empty so this is again enhancing the image of loneliness, warning and fear that was given out in the opening scenes.
