Anya's Crow's Pass Hike

  • Age 13

    Age 13
    Anya is becoming more self aware and feeling the urge to be competitive. She is offered to go on a long hike, one that will take years, and she feels obligated to go.
    In Erikson's fourth stage, industry versus inferiority.
    The crisis is between choosing a lazy, more sedentary media (industry) filled time versus pushing herself towards a challenge, where others her age will be doing. She begins to develop self confidence by taking on this hike.
  • Age 18

    Age 18
    Anya is faced with a predicament. She cannot cross a freezing river without the help of her friend, Jacob. He must give her a piggy back ride across the river, but she is unsure if this is whether this is an age appropriate activity for her. She is struck with an identity crisis.
    In Erikson's fifth stage, identity versus role confusion.
    She's feeling confused about whether she should try to find other ways to cross without the help of her friend. Who she may even have a crush on.
  • Age 30

    Age 30
    Anya has finally completed her long trek of Crow's Pass. She is now faced with the dilemma of how much she likes Jacob. She's worried if she doesn't act now, she'll be alone forever.
    In Erikson's sixth stage, intimacy versus isolation.
    Anya has spent a lot of time with various friends on this hike, and she's not sure if Jacob is the right one. She doesn't want to be alone for the rest of her life. The crisis is between being with Jacob (intimacy) and being independent without him (isolation).
