    Sadat wanting to got to Military School but money was an issue. He came home one day and his grandmother told him he has been admitted to the Military Academy. When he was there, he read books on the Turkish Revolution, and the history of Egypt. But he mainly focused on the British occupation of Egypt in 1882.     Sadat was arrested twice
    He was arrested for wanting to expel the British from Egypt. They searched his house and found nothing, then they said come we won't arrest you, you will only be a guest in the prison. They questioned him until they put him in jail. He then escaped two years later with six others. He was arrested again in 1946 because he was accused of killing the pro-British minister Amin.     The Free Officers Organization was an uprising against the Egyptian monarchy. This group was first, the first secret organization of army officers and was made up of only army officers. It was established in 1939. Then Sadat made the group bigger, in order for them to be stronger. Where it then became The Free Officers Organization. Leading the organization was Nasser.     When Nasser died, it was a tragedy that shook the Arab world. Sadat becomes president after Nasser's death by a plebiscite. Also because Sadat was so close to Nasser and high up, people immediately thought he was president.     Sadat added respect in the Arab community. Sadat had to go to Israel, Australia, America, and work with the Soviet Union in order to have respect in the Arab community. He and the leader of Israel could not come to an agreement for a long time, then America got involved, and the leaders had to go back and forth from country to country.     Sadat started his effort to restore peace in the Middle East. He had tried before in the beginning of his presidency, but that was delayed. He tried again in 1977, Sadat had to go to Jerusalem, Israel, Romania, Iran, Saudi Arabia, talk to the president of the U.S, and work with the Soviet Union in order to restore peace.     Sadat and Begin were awarded a Nobel Prize for peace. The road to peace was not easy at all. Sadat had a war with Israel during the process.     Anwar Sadat dies
    President Anwar Sadat was assassinated in Cairo. The assassination occurred while Sadat was watching a military parade held to commemorate the Egyptian crossing of the Suez Canal in the 1973 war. The death of Sadat created uncertainty about the future of the peace process.
