House of Students
At the age of five, all children go to the House of Students and remain there for ten years. The children are taught everything is already known, authority has all the answers, they'll do as they are told, and to never think as an individual. Equality liked science while in school, even though it was wrong to have a favorite class. He wanted to know more, though his teachers told him he was bad. He wanted to be a Scholar. -
Placed in the House of Streetsweepers
Upon completion of their ten years of education, all students are assigned a job by a council. The students have no decision in their life's work. Equality, who wanted to be a Scholar, was made a Streetsweeper. -
Equality Finds his Tunnel
Equality and his friend, International, stumble upon an old tunnel from the Ancient Times. Equality goes down and finds old stuff. He convinces International not to report it. He takes candles and books down there and studies every night for two years. -
Equality Meets Liberty
While sweeping the streets just outside the twon near the farms, Equality first see Liberty working. The two talk, both finding each other pleasing to look at and knowing each other isn't quite like the others. Equality names her the Golden One and Libery calls him the Unconquered. -
Equality Rediscovers Electricity and the Lightbulbs
While down in his tunnel, Equality figures out how to use a generator or battery and figures out how to turn on a lightbulb, something that hadn't been done in well over a hundred years. He keeps this a secret, fearing what may happen if it's found. -
Equality is Caught
One night, he forgets to come out just before the play ends to merge with the crowd, and ends up showing up alone. Others want to know where he went. He is beaten and tortured to get information out of him, He broke out of his cell and escaped bac kto his tunnel. -
Equality Escapes the Palace of Corrective Detention
Equality escapes from his torchured inprisonment by knccking down the cell down with his body (the cells were old and rusted.). He races back to his tunnel to check that his stuff is safe. -
Equality Takes His Light to the Council of Scholars
Equality decides the only thing he could do now his present his discovery to the council of scholars, something he had already planned on doing before imprisonment. He hopes the Scholars will like his discovery and make him a Scholar and let him rediscover more that was lost. The presentation doesn't do as planned. The council thinks he and his light are evil and needed to be destroyed. Equality flees with his light to the Forest. -
Liberty Finds Equality, They Live in the Woods
After Equality flees the city, word quickly spreads. When Liberty hears Equality is gone, she flees after him. After a day of searching, she finds him and stays with him. The two live in the forest and learn to hunt, gather, make fire, and find water. The two travel, looking for a place to finally stop. -
Equality and Liberty Find a House In Forest
After traveling and surving in the woods for a while, Equality and Liberty discover a house left completely intact from the Ancient Times. Equality and Liberty decide to stay. They spend their time figuring out how things work and what they do. Equality reads the books he found and choses new names for him and Liberty: Pomethius and Gaea. Equality also rediscovers the word "I." -
Equality and Liberty Make a Life in the House
They spend years at that house. Equality makes plans to go back for several others left in the city, like his friend International, and teach them how to live and the word "I" and let them chose new names. Liberty is pregnant with their first child, who will be rised knowing nothing of the society they left behind.
