  • Gertie the Dinosaur

    The animated film Gertie the Dinosaur is created. It quickly becomes popular, created by Windsor McCay

  • Felix the Cat

    Felix the cat is created and becomes popular quickly. The character begins being merchandised on watches and clocks.

  • Steamboat Willie

    Steamboat Willie
    After his first company failed Walt Disney created a short film called Steamboat Willie. It was the first film to combine sound and animation. It was an instant success.

  • Warner Bros

    Warner Bros is created and they soon begin making animated films. Silly Symphonies evolves into Looney Toons and the characters become popular.

  • Snow White

    The first full length animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarves is released. It racks in bank and proves animation can be successful in theatres.

  • 3d Animation Created

    Computer scientist and programmer Ed Catmull creates method of creating 3d movies. He would later help create Pixar.

  • Wally B

    The Graphics Group creates the first CG animated short film. This company would later go on to be Pixar.

  • Toy Story

    Toy Story
    The first 3d animated film to be released. It was released by Pixar in 1993 revolutionizing the primitive 3d films the preceded.

  • Frozen Is Released

    In 2013 Disney Releases Frozen. Within months it becomes the highest grossing animated film of all time.
