    Joseph Smith was born on December 23, 1805. He was born at Sharon, Vermont. His mom and dad names were Joseph Smith and Ludy Mark. He worked on a family farm in Vermont. In the beginning of 1820, was when Joseph first met God the Father and Jesus Christ. On April 6, 1830, he received the right to guide a church.     Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767. He was born on the border of North and South Carolina. Before anything big really happened to him, the British invaded where his family lived and they killed his mother and two brothers.     In 1838-1839, as part of Andrew Jackson's indian removal policy, Cherokee were forced to give up their own and they all had to move away from the east side of the Mississippi River down to what people nowadays call Oklahoma. Cherokees called this the Trail of tears because there were many people crying because of how many deaths there were. A lot of people died do to hunger, disease, frostbite, and people just slowly giving up because they were either too old or could not walk any further.

    Young was a figure of Mormonism. His career consisted of being a carpenter and a painter. He was baptized in 1832 by Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was chosen to be a leader of the Mormons and continued as president until death. He was one of the directors of the sixteen thousand Mormons on the trip from Illinois to Utah. He was the one who contracted to build telegraph line and railroads. Young was also the very first governor and superintendent of Indian affairs.

    Mexican War
    The Mexican war went on from April 15, 1846 through February 2, 1848. It was marked as the first conflict that was fought on foreign soil. The Mexican War was Mexico against the United States. Mexico lost about one-third of its land such as Utah, Arizona and more. The Mexican started this because the United States didn’t want anything to do with them. The Mexican government was trying to encourage border raids and any attempt to add to their land would lead to war.

    Gold Rush
    On January 24, 1848, James Marshall had been a founder of gold in the American River. That’s what started the Gold Rush. Many people had traveled to help find more of the gold. The non-native population went up to 100,000 in California. By the time of 1852 there was a total of 2 billion dollars of metal. Also in 1852, 81 million dollars was found and then the years after that it went down to 45 million. By the end of all of this the non-native population was 380,000.
