    Andre Charles Bieler was born on october 8th in Laussane, Switzerland. Him and his moved to Paris and lived there for twelve years then imigrated to anada in 1908. he wasn't the first born though, he had three other brothers

    In 1915 Andre Bieler joined The Princess Patrica's candian light infantry along side his brother's.

    The Battle At Vimy Ridge
    1914, The battle was fought in france during world war one. The french failed to take over the german trenches. So the canadians tried to take over and they used this new stategy called the creeping barage were a spoldier would fire a smoke bomb and and so the other soldiers would move ahead with out being seen but then they'de fire anither bomb farther so they could move ahead even more. The strategy worked and victory was claimed and Andre helped claim this victory.

    The patrica's advanced an additional 500 yards and pushed the line northwards to establish a new front line this concluded the capture of the whole area. Andre writes "On the roads we saw clearly the Geman artillery retreating, pestered by the Canadian batteries.To see the backs of the enemy running off down the roads confirmed the victory with all satisfaction.

    Andre Bieler, with his company, charged through mucky difficult terrain full of craters and the ruins of trenches.They andvanced 700 yards to reach their goal in one hour's time. Andre describes throwing smoke bombs into the German's underground habitations. He was relieved once they reached their goal, a tall steep hill over looking a village with beutiful roads. Trapping the germans they felt victorious.

    Being so skilled at navigating, Andre was charged with leading 500 soldier back into battle, imediately follwing his arrival at headquarters. Coming back gass bombs were going off left right and center and unfortunatly Andre was scared for life because of breathing in all that gass.

    Passchendaele crest was captured. The Princess Patricias were almost entirely wiped out. It was a brutal battle It was first time Princess Pats encountered gas bomps. The final attack caused 300,000 British and Canadian casualties and 200,000 German casualties.
    Andre survived. And received medals for his bravery.

    Andrre Bieler arrived in Montreal after world war one Gassed and injured.

    Andre went to Southern states, Florida and South Carolina to heal.
    He met Bertha Thomson who encouraged him to attend Art Student's League in Woodstock. He went. He later is inspired to return to Europe to study.

    Andre marries contemporary designer and decorator Jeanette Meunier. They live and work in Montreal. Andre paints and Jeanette designs. They have many artist friends. The found the Atelier school of art and teaches til 1933.

    Andre Bieler died on december first in 1989. His gravestone is a land mark in Quebec dut he past away in Kingston, Ontoario.

    Andre was a hero because during war he was rarely given an option. Because of his orienteering skills he was needed most often.he survived two battles during world war one and served in the army for four years.
