    Mayflower Compact
    The Mayflower Compact signed by the pilgrims on the boat Mayflower agreeing to establish a government. It was significant because it was the 1st attempt at self government in America.
  • Industrial Revolution

    Industrial Revolution
    The Industrial Revolution was changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and technology. It began in the United Kingdom, then spread throughout Western Europe, North America, Japan, and eventually the rest of the world. The Industrial Revolution led to the rise of cities.

  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war was fought between the French and its American Indian allies against the British and the colonies from the year 1756 to 1763. The French and Indian war lead the to the British having a huge debt to pay of after the war. The British started taxing the Americans for the 1st time to help pay of the debt. The Americans did not like that they did not have a say in the parliment. This tension between the British and the colonies eventually led to the American Revolution

    Loisiana Purchase
    Napolean sold 828,000 square miles of land in America that was owned by the French for $15 million dollars. This eventually helped America reach their "Manifest Destiny".
  • Trail of Tears

    Trail of Tears
    In 1838 and 1839, Andrew Jackson had an Indian removal policy, in which the Cherokee nation was forced to give up its lands east of the Mississippi River and migrate to an area in present-day Oklahoma. The Cherokee people called this journey the "Trail of Tears," because of its devastating effects. The migrants faced hunger, disease, and exhaustion on the forced march. Over 4,000 out of 15,000 of the Cherokees died.

    California Gold Rush
    James Wilson Marshall found the first few pieces of gold in Coloma, California. Soon after more than 300,000 people migrated west in the hopes of making their fortune panning gold. The Gold Rush eventually led to California becoming a state due to the population increase. Also led to the transcontinental railroad.
