    Nelson Mandela is arrested for treason. He was a strong apartheid protester. He was arested with many more people. Then after a four year trial they found him not guilty.

    They have created a new law to make new homes in a seperate location just for blacks. The new homes are called Bantustans. They do not want the blacks to be part of the county and more.

    This apartheid in Africa requiers blacks to carry passbooks. This book contains lots of personal info, this is so they can idenify them. So when many protesters show up to a POLICE STATION without any passbooks a huge riot breaks out and 69 were killed.

    South Africa is expelled from the U.N (United Nations) because of the apartheid going on they were removed. They were not allowed into the U.N again until apartheid is done.
  • 600 Students Killed

    There were 600 Students Killed in a massacre in Soweto. High school student started to rebel to get better learning for blacks. It broken up by tear gas and bullets 600 died.
  • Steve Bilko is Killed

    Steve Bilko is Killed
    Steve was one of the helpers in the riot in Soweto. He was arrested and then died from brain damage. Most likely from police beatings.

    The album Graceland is released. Paul travels to Africa to make a song/album. In his album he talkes about how apartheid is bad and what they are doing is wrong.
  • President Frederik ends the ban on the ANC

    Even though he used to suport segregation, he lifted the ban and thanked Nelson Mandela for helping him end apartheid.
