  • Nancy McCormick Rambusch goes to Paris for the Tenth International Montessori Congress

    Nancy met Mario Montessori who encouraged her to take courses in Montessori education and take it back to the United States
  • Nancy became involved with a prominent group of parents in Greenwich, CT

  • Nancy and parent group founded the Whitby School

    This was the first Montessori school in the US since the initial interest in Montessori education in the early 20th century
  • AMS founded

  • Montessori featured in TIME magazine

  • Nancy's book Learning to Learn was published

    This added to the popularity of Montessori education
  • Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education is created

    To improve teacher education programs.
  • National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector launched by AMS

    Strives to make Montessori education equitably accessible.
  • AMI/USA and AMS formed the Montessori Public Policy Initiative

    To be a unified voice in advocacy and coordination in public policy.
  • National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector gets independently incorporated

  • Montessorians everywhere question taking the method online due to global pandemic
