    The stamp act taxed the American colonies for any form of printed paper used such as playing cards or newspapers from Britain. This was enacted to make Britain money via taxes from those items.

    Townshend Acts were another form of taxes imposed on the colonies by Britain; this time they were taxing on imported items such as lead, paint, and tea. These were used to make Britain and its empire money.

    Britain kept imposing different taxes on the colonies. This eventually led to a protest where Americans dumped 340 chests of tea imported by the British into the harbor. This also led to the British shutting down Boston harbour.

    When determining the population of a state, for every 5 slaves only 3 of them were to be counted in the census. This was for taxation and population purposes, also racism.

    The Bill of Rights includes the first 10 amendments to the Constitution. The Bill of Rights is used to reinforce limitations on the federal and state governments and guarantees rights to individuals as well.
